On 17, 18 and 19 October, GEN Roses is organising the 2025 European Patí a Vela Cup.
The European Patín a Vela Cup is the most important international competition for the Patí a Vela (or Patí Català) one-design class.
- What it is: It is an international regatta held annually, where sailors from the Patín a Vela class compete, mainly from countries with a tradition in this discipline (such as Catalonia, Belgium and France).
- Boat: The Patí a Vela is a light sailing boat (a one-design catamaran) that is unique in that it has no rudder or centreboard. The skipper controls the course and direction solely with their body weight (by shifting their balance) and the position of the sail.
- Origin: The Patín a Vela was designed in Catalonia in 1942 and is a discipline deeply rooted in the Catalan coastline.
- Format: The competition usually includes several races over the weekend and is often divided into categories such as senior and junior (and sometimes a second category). It is an event that attracts a large number of participants.
