From July 1 to August 31, traffic in the Cap de Creus Natural Park from Roses is restricted
Today, Wednesday 1 July, the period of traffic restrictions begins in the coves of Cap de Creus located within the municipality of Roses, and will remain in place until 31 August. The restrictions are in force from 9.30 am to 4 pm, every day of the week. The access restrictions apply to vehicles with four or more wheels, whilst access by motorbike, on foot or by bicycle is permitted throughout the day. During the restricted hours, only authorised four-wheeled vehicles and people who can prove they have a booking for an activity within the park will be allowed access.
The Roses City Council is once again applying this season the plan to restrict motorized access to the Cap de Creus Natural Park, previously agreed upon with the management body of the Natural Park. This plan has been applied since the summer of 2021 and aims to avoid the saturation that the coves and natural spaces of the Cap de Creus Natural Park receive during the summer season, an overload that is not compatible with the conservation objectives of these natural spaces, nor with the safety of users.
The restriction hours correspond to the periods in which the greatest traffic intensity is concentrated, and this year it is established from 9:30 am to 4 pm, every day of the week. As for cars and vans registered in Roses, they can access the park at any time of the day, showing the current road tax receipt at the access point.
The checkpoint and access barrier remains in its previous location, at the Torre d'en Sastre site. It is managed by informants in charge of opening and closing the barrier, controlling authorizations and providing information.
Authorized vehicles and responsible declarations
The time limit is set for vehicles with 4 wheels or more, allowing motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, etc. to circulate throughout the day, as well as authorized users: owners and visitors to owners; clients of activities located in the park; services from supply and maintenance companies, public transport, parcel services; livestock farmers; staff of activities operating within the park;... who will not have access limitations with any type of vehicle.
To prove these authorizations, the council offers models of responsible declarations. You can consult the details of the restrictions and download the responsible declaration through this link .
