Naturalization of Canyelles beach to improve the landscape and prevent erosion of the slope
The municipal services company Rosersa is carrying out various tasks of slope conditioning and naturalization of the Canyelles Petites beach. The action aims to reduce erosion of the existing slope, promote revegetation and recover the natural and landscape integration of the space.
The first phases of the project are currently being carried out, with the aim of minimising the problems caused by erosion at different points on the existing slope, mainly caused by runoff water that descends with force and causes the wear and tear of the land. This situation leads to soil loss, slope degradation and a deterioration in the landscape quality of the space.
The project that is currently being implemented aims to consolidate the affected areas, recover the original profile of the land and control the flow of water to prevent it from continuing to erode the soil.
The proposed solution combines landscape bioengineering techniques and nature-based solutions to stabilize the slope in a durable and low-maintenance manner. A stone structure is built at the water outlet to reduce its force and an artificial stream is created to channel the runoff.
In addition, the land is reinforced with wooden structures, coconut mesh, water control elements, soil contributions and native or adapted plantations to the environment. The project will be completed with new phases of dune naturalization and tamarisk plantation.
