Last Friday, October 2, the city of Reus hosted the ceremony for the presentation of the Flowers of Honor of the Viles Florides movement, an initiative that recognizes the towns, groups and people who, with their dedication to gardening and urban greenery, contribute to making towns and cities more pleasant, healthy and blooming. Roses has revalidated the Fourth Flower of Honor for another year and during the ceremony it obtained a special mention for the landscaping of the flower beds of the Passeig Marítim.

This was the fifteenth edition of the competition, in which the municipality of Roses has participated since the first edition. In 2021, Roses won the Fourth Flower of Honor, an award it has held until the current edition. In addition, this year it has obtained special recognition for the renovation of the flowerbeds on the Passeig Marítim, in front of Plaça Catalunya, with the introduction of species with low water consumption and adapted to the marine environment, as well as for the diversification of the municipal tree plantation with more sustainable and resilient species.

 

With these awards, the Viles Florides movement, promoted by the Confederation of Ornamental Horticulture of Catalonia (CHOC), wants to show and highlight the country's natural and landscape wealth through public recognition of all those gardening projects, urban furniture and recreational spaces that become an example to follow.
