The Ministry of Transport presents the 2025 nautical safety campaign: “Pay attention to the law of the sea”

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has launched its new Nautical Safety Campaign for summer 2025 , with the aim of promoting safer navigation among recreational boat users and avoiding maritime accidents during the high season.

The campaign, recently presented in Santander, emphasizes the importance of knowing and complying with maritime regulations , as many accidents could be avoided with adequate preparation and respect for the law. Under the slogan “Respect the law of the sea” , it is recalled that safety begins before setting sail: prepare the route, check the weather, have enough fuel, bring the necessary safety equipment and communicate the departure to someone you trust.

One of the key messages is the need to dismantle false myths that still persist among sailors. The campaign insists that excessive trust in experience or intuition must be left behind, and that sailing must be based on responsibility and legal compliance. The classic advice to wear a life jacket is reinforced with the slogan “the jacket is always in fashion”.

In order to guarantee the impact of the message, the Ministry will carry out communication actions throughout the territory, with audiovisual materials, presence in marinas and dissemination through digital and traditional media. The aim is to reach both regular and more occasional sailors, who are often unaware of the technical and legal requirements before going out to sea.

It also highlights the importance of following the instructions of the Maritime Rescue Service and the Maritime Captaincy, which intervene in multiple emergencies related to imprudence or lack of equipment every year. The campaign aims to contribute to reducing these interventions, promoting a culture of prevention and preparation.

In short, the 2025 campaign sends a direct and forceful message: respecting the law of the sea saves lives . Sailing wisely, with the mandatory equipment and adequate planning is key to enjoying the summer safely and responsibly.
