The Catalonia Windsurfing Championship concludes in Roses

News | 31/03/2026

Roses Bay brings to a close an edition marked by contrasting weather conditions, crowning the champions of the IQ Foil, Techno and Windsurfer classes thanks to the spectacular start to the first weekend.

After a championship start to remember, the weather over this second weekend prevented any further races from being added to the overall standings. The strong Tramontana wind that persisted throughout the week in the Alt Empordà meant the Raceboard fleet was unable to make its debut at this event, whilst the standings in the other categories remained unchanged from the first day.

Given the forecast for Sunday and the fact that sailing was already impossible on Saturday, the organisers, together with the Catalan Sailing Federation, decided to bring the prize-giving ceremony forward to Saturday afternoon. Despite this weekend ending on a blank slate, the championship is progressing very positively thanks to the 22 races held over the first two days. Those days of perfect thermal winds allowed the Catalan podium places to be decided through an exercise in endurance and impeccable technique on the part of the sailors.

As for the Raceboard class, which was added to the programme this second weekend, the title of Catalan Champion will be decided at the next event on the official circuit. Sailors in this class will have to wait for the next fixture on the calendar to test their mettle on the water.

The organisers would like to thank all the participants, clubs and technical staff for their effort and patience. Roses has once again demonstrated that, when the wind blows, it is one of the best venues in the world for windsurfing.
